l owned a 1994 X1/9 years ago. It was bone stock and, on the floor and a flat road, it would go 97.
It really was a piece of $hit car, but a TON of fun and you never lost it in a parking lot! PS -- beware of third gear syncro going bad. They are as strong as a frozen payday bar.

The X1/9 ended production in 1990, so perhaps CB means an '84.

Anyway the 1300cc engines made 75hp & the 1500cc 85hp. The US only got the 1500cc engines. The X1/9, though small, comes it at a bit of a heafty 2,300 lbs giving a wieght-to-hp ratio of 27:1.

A Triumph Spitfire MkII l has a 1300cc engine making 75hp & a weight-to-hp ratio of around 26.5:1. The Spitfire was good for 0-60 of 12.5 seconds & toped out at 90mph.

l would say that the 0-60 times would be similar but the extra 10 ponies would give a little higher top end, as reported by CB.

For comparision a new base model Chyrsler PT Cruiser, with an automatic transmission - a car by no means capable of ''spirited driving'' - has a weight-to-hp ratio of 21:1.

Sadly ur X1/9 is not going to be winning any drag races but should be an absolute blast in the twisties. Good luck.

l have been in one at 105 mph. It was scarey. l do not recommend doing it.

l am from Germany, where these cars used to be seen driving on the autobahn until the late 80s. l remember chasing one of them one day with my old Mercedes 230, and we were both absolutely topped out at about 165km/h - that is 105mph. Hope that helped.

It depends if it is falling off a cliff or not.
