The dealer wants to charge arm and leg for either new onboard code computer or new set of master keys. Help!!

u should be able to use the codes on the cards u got with it to order a new key, should not be much more than about £5.a main dealer should be able to access all the info needed from youre vim code, in the bonnett. so if its not a ringer u should be fine. also try contacting the person u baught it from, they might still have it.

do not lose your keys the red key is only for expensive replacement.

lost my keys for a 2000 multipla had to recover it to main dealer order two new keys from vin no £48 each then they had to activate them £57. if it is pre 2000 then they have to fit a new imobilizer as they dont have records on computor. if there is a securty sticker on the front door windows try that phone number they might have details on record but they will charge £70 for them

Depending on the model year of ur car,it may have needed a master key.Later models had recorded sucurity details.Sounds like you've got the earlier type.If the keys need replacing the master key is required for coding purposes.Good independent vehicle locksmiths do now have a way around this problem & can code new keys without the master key & without replacing the ECU. l do not know where in the world u are,but if by chance u r anywhere near kent there is a company called SLS Locksmiths that l know can do this for you.

l am sorry to tell u that u will need the brown master key cause if u want to cut another key to keep it spare u will need it & u can not cut one with the blue one. The Fiat dealer will surely tell u that the brown key is more important than the car itself cause combines its code with the ECU code. So let me give u an advise, go back from where u bought it & emphasize with him/her that u will need the brown one at all costs because without it u bought half a car, l am afraid.
