Ive got over 450,000 miles on it . what the H is up !

well, maybe the engine is just too mechanically sound. l mean, if you were serious about breaking it, trying running the engine without oil and/or rev it past redline for 10 minutes. It will break, but hopefully you do not do that because a good engine is, well, a good engine. =)

That is good old italian engineering design: u simply can beat it.
Think of it as ''Christine'' (as in the movei directed by John Carpenter)

Jokes apart, the rust problem affecting its frame is also common for Fiat 500s, but their engines too still run smooth as clockwork: there r plenty around here in Italy, even elder than that.

It wo not break because it is a simple, rugged engine.

Later on they simply understood it was not worth to make engines that lasted that long .. & more modern engines r also more complex (and thus more prone to failures) to comply with more stringent fuel emission requirements

You have got the only Fiat that was ever assembled correctly.

Wow a 124! l had a '74 Fiat 128! We loved it. We also had 2 Fiat 500 is (only in Sardinia). We'd pull onto a ferry, get out & the deck hands would lift it up & move it over. On one of my 500's, the left plug would foul, I'd take it out, wipe it off & put it back in. The engine had a cover around it. Once when out in a small village in the middle of the Sardinian island, we stopped to eat. When we tried to start the car, the plug was fouled. l took it out & cleaned it, but when l went to put it back in, it slipped & fell between the engine & the cover. l went into the restaurant to see if anyone had something to get it out with. Bunch of Sardinians came out, got my family out of the car, the guys picked it up, turned it on it is side & shook it until the spark plug fell out on the road. One of the guys put it back in & we were on our way! HONEST!!
Mi piace Fiat! Che bravo!
