l have a 1997 fiat punto which is automatic, if im on a slight hill and l stop the car with the automatic transmission still in D for drive the car starts to roll back continuosly. Also if im stopped on a level surface and still with the autommatic transmission in drive ,but with my foot of the brake pedal the car does not move.Can anyone tell me if this if normal for an automatic car to do this, many thanks.

Your Punto is acting normally - it is not a true auto, it is a CVT (continually variable transmission)

It is not normal for a car with a traditional automatic transmission and torque converter (fluid coupling) to do this.
However, your car has a belt-type CVT with an electro-magnetic clutch, so will behave differently. Essentially the clutch will disengage completely in those conditions, just like in a manual car when you press the clutch pedal. What you are experiencing is a function of the type of transmission used in your model of car, and not a fault.
