l am thinking about buying a Fiat Punto but have had mixed views from friends about how reliable they are. Are they good cars and cheap to maintain? Would it be more expensive than a Fiesta to maintain?

I've seen one from a Ford dealership 3dr, 1.2 active, 52 plate and 43,000 miles on the clock. They want £3,000 with warranty. Is this good?

l live in Italy and it is probably the most sold car here, but I'd never buy one. l am not impressed with what I've read about reliability and safety.

Unless they're paying YOU to take it, you're paying too much. Do not buy it!! Get a real vehicle!

fiat parts are expensive and so is servicing costs and you may know that fiat stands for Fix It Again Today.

i have a fiesta and it is 1 year old l have done 90,000 miles in it and it hasnt missed a beat, and servicing is fairly cheap.i wouldnt change to a fiat ever.

if you must buy a european car, go French
You cannot beat a peugeot in 176 thousand miles, the only big bill l have had was a clutch £300

for £3.000 you can buy a better car, puntos are no less reliable than alot of other cars, but volkswagon golf or polo is a much better car for that price, and hardly anything goes wrong with them, and also you will have more street cred

l work in the breakdown industry and can tell you that Punto is are as reliable and easy to work on than most cars.
l have just done a head gasket on one and found it a pleasure to do as opposed to the french crap lately.
l would haggle on the price as warranties are complete waste of time.

Puntos are decent enough cars if they've been looked after, just like anything else. l actually had a 52 plate 1.2 Active and it cost me nothing but 2 services and 2 tyres in 2 years, plus cheap insurance and 45mpg. BUT £3,000 is WAY too much for a 52 plate base model, even from a main dealer. If it is perfect in every way and they're giving you a years warranty, offer them no more than £2,500.
