indicator trouble on a fiat uno, any ideas

when indicating to go left the indicator works fine, but if l brake at the same time the idicator slows and all the lights in the back cluster flash. any ideas?

yes l know before all the wise cracks.. it is an old car but we were given it.

You may need to change the indicator stalk assembly. It is a pretty easy job (DIY) and not too expensive.

If all the lights in the cluster flash then its a bad earth wire/connection at the rear lights.Usually corrosion?just clean and tighten.Hope this helps

l agree with the poor earth theory.

What happens is that all the lights in one cluster share the same earth path, and if it is a high resistance then some voltage is wasted. The more current flowing (e.g. with brake light on) the more voltage is wasted.
