Have a look and let us know. Don`t leave it too long though, we are all in suspense out here.

It is quite possible it is just one of the rubbers - if you're not getting any blow from the exhaust & it is just rattling against ur car. The back box on the early Punto is is held on with a trapezium shaped rubber - it is a sod to get it on, & quite often they need a bit of wangling about to get them to sit happily, otherwise the back box will bang against the floor of the car, especially when going over speed-humps etc.
The mid section is held on with an oval rubber which should be quite thick & solid-looking - these fail less often than the back ones, but if it is split it will let the mid section flex up & down against the floor, again when you're going over bumps
If one of the brackets has rotted off, u could try & weld it on, but for the labour cost it is hardly worth it, you'd be better off just getting a new section. When ur car was new it probably (if it is a Punto 55, 60 or 75, which covers most of the 1.1 & 1.2 engine options on the mark 1) came with an exhaust where the mid section & back section were all one piece, but now some pattern-part manufacturers make the mid section & back section separately, which can work out cheaper.
If the bracket/rubber is gone on the front pipe/cat end but the supports r still in place on the mid & back it should not rattle - the fixings for the front pipe will keep it taught initially, but having too little support there will ultimately cause too much stress on the flexible section on the front pipe & the fixings to the manifold
Take it down to ur local exhaust centre - they should give u a no-obligation quote to sort it out (if you're concerned that they're trying to sell u unnecessary work then go elsewhere & get a second opinion) - if it just needs a bit of manouvering around then it should not cost more than a tenner.
You can buy the rubbers yourself at ur local motor factors, the back box one (which is pretty standard for all Puntos) should cost u about £2.50 & the mid one about £3.50
Hope this helps - sorry about the long answer!
