l have an S reg Fiat Bravo. It drives very well, but the fuel consumption is really lousy. It used to do 30 mpg on teh short trips but now only does 20 mpg.

This is hurting.

Does anyone know what might be causing it. The thermostat is fine and the engine drives O.K. with no stalling or revving.

Could probably do with a tune up,plugs, fuel mixture etc etc and do not forget the cost of fuel this wo not reduce mileage but you do notice how much you get to the gallon these days when it cost is nearly 6 pounds a gallon! Get the car serviced and tuned up.it will save you money in the long run.
