I've just had my front brakes done a couple of months ago, but there is a warning light coming on and I am not sure what it is.The light should come on when the hand brake is on, and also when the brake fluid is low.I've noticed that it is not switching on when the handbrake is on, but as I've had my brakes done recently, l would not imagine that they are needing done just yet (usually the cause of low brake fluid). Do you have brake pads in the back?l got my front ones done.

Soz, I am female, so not 100% clued up on cars, but not completely daft either.

Only the turbo model & some sporting models have brake pads on the back.as they have rear disks. The other models, had read drums & shoes.
The usual reason this light does not come on is that the little switch beneath the handbrake lever has stopped working. This is simply a case of replacing the switch.
Other reasons may be a blown fuse.though I'd expect that to take out all the dash lights.loose wires - either on the brake fluid reservoir lid or the handbrake switch or possibly a blown bulb in the dash.but that is highly unlikely.

When l had a Fiat l had a lot of problems with the warning lights, they never came on to warn me the oil was low and l burnt out the engine - check out the oil just in case, my handbrake light came on at the wrong times, when l renewed the car l made sure it was not a fiat, l went for For KA and its great. - l still dont trust the oil lights, l check it regularly.

mine did this too. keep checking the brake fluid level and it should calm down in a few weeks.

Hi,
Y
Check the brake fluid level.
Gently tap the side of the bottle (reservoir) taking care not to splash brake fluid to see if level drops, as they sometimes get air in reservoir.
Also some brake pads have sensor wires, which may be shorting out.
